Names & IDs

Location names and identifiers are built from parts of all their superior locations concatenated into a single value. This means that names and IDs of high-level locations like campuses are short, while for rooms they can be very long.

Names

Breakdown of the parts of a location name

This example shows a room name. A floor number of “NA” indicates that this room is not assigned to a floor.

IDs

Breakdown of a location ID for a room

This is the ID for the same room as the name above. This room is in a building that’s part of a branch campus, so the ID includes both the parent campus and the branch campus.

You probably don’t need to worry about any of that

The Locations API breaks down multi-part names and IDs into separate attributes. You can access these attributes directly and filter on them.
